"Kaidan?" the man sitting behind the desk didn't move, didn't even flinch when the serene silence was broken by the hesitant voice of his asari friend. "Kaidan a few of us were going to see what we can do for food. Would you.....would you like to come?"
He remained silent, head bowed over a datapad that he wasn't really looking at.
"Kaidan?" his body tensed, his eyes turning just enough to glare at the blue skinned alien standing nervously by the door. She took a step back, retreating from the room that had once belonged to the only woman Kaidan had ever truly loved. He wouldn't have anyone else coming in

Something soft brushed across my face. I stirred, willing to throw myself back into the blackness that had overwhelmed me when I had......what? I couldn't remember what I was doing. Where I was.
Another brush, like velvet across my cheek. It was warm, pleasant. I felt as light as air, my body no longer weighed down. A soft glow warmed my soul, easing away my thoughts. So easy to just slip away.

Since I teach preschool I decided we needed some class pets. I brought the fish from my room to the classroom.
This choice had nothing to do with the fact that I could just feel their creepy little fish eyes following me wherever I went. Nor was the decision affected by the creepy prickling feeling that was constantly on the back of my neck as they floated there, silently judging me as I danced with wild abandon in my room.

I'm never allowing another animal in my room for an extended amount of time.
